New wind chill warning, possibility of -50° tonight
Earlier today, Environment Canada issued a wind chill warning for the Lethbridge region.
An area of low pressure located over Northern Washington/Idaho has brought 10 centimetres of snow overnight near the British Columbia border. Forecasters expect an additional 10 centimetres today before the low exits the region.
Cold arctic air has invaded much of Alberta and will bring temperatures of -30 to 35° overnight. These temperatures combined with winds near 15–20 km/h will give wind chills of -40 to 50° in the region overnight. At these extreme wind chill values, frostbite on exposed skin may occur in less than 10 minutes.
