Lethbridge to pick 17th overall in 2012 CHL Import Draft

The Lethbridge Hurricanes are prepared for the 2012 CHL Import Draft, which will take place Wednesday, June 27. Each team in the CHL can carry two European import players each season. These players are selected annually at the Import Draft, with the selection order rotating through the Quebec, Ontario, and Western Hockey Leagues using an inverse order of their final regular season standings from the 2011–2012 season.

Lethbridge has the 17th and 77th picks and will retain their first round pick following the release of forward Juraj Bezuch. Bezuch will re-enter the talent pool for the 2012 CHL draft after the hockey club was unable to find him another WHL team to play for.

This year, the QMJHL’s Sherbrooke Phoenix own the first overall pick while the Prince Albert Raiders will select 2nd overall. Rounding out the top five picks are the Eerie Otters, PEI Rocket and Prince George Cougars.

The 2012 CHL Import Draft kicks off at 7:00 Mountain Time with the Hurricanes scheduled to make their first selection at approximately 9:40. To follow all the draft results, visit chlimportdraft.com.
