Robbery downtown yesterday, another impaired driver caught
Around 11:40 yesterday morning, police responded to a report of a robbery.
Security staff at a store along the 900 block of 1 Avenue South saw two males shoplifting sunglasses. Staff initially apprehended both males, but one managed to break free. The second male continued to struggle, and as a result of the altercation, a female loss prevention officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation identified a 16-year-old male as being responsible. He was arrested and is charged with robbery.
In another incident yesterday, police saw a vehicle exceeding the speed limit as it travelled northbound on 20 Street in Coaldale and initiated a traffic stop. The driver displayed signs of impairment and following further investigation was charged.
David D. Waldner, 31, of Turin, is charged with impaired driving, driving over .08 and dangerous driving. He is scheduled to appear in court August 1.
